The Black Bags and the Sketch at CBTGs

Our first show on the rock since summertime and we are pretty stoked to be playing it with the Sketch. A great way to start off the Xmas week and to celebrate Marcel's birthday at 12 midnight. Show starts around 10:30. $5 at the door.

Bags on Facebook

We broke down and made ourselves a Black Bags Facebook Page. Check it out. We might even start a twitter page next. Stay Tuned.

Gus's

Gus's Pub and Grill, the heart throb of the alt scene in Halifax, always a good time. A great place to see or play an intimate show while the regulars work the machines on the back wall. First, though, you will have to get past this guy, our good buddy Jim, with your I.D.'s:
Liz found this out the hard way when she showed up to play with no identification. It didn't matter that we had played there many times or that Liz has kids as big as the bar staff - there is a new law in Halifax demanding that all persons in a public places like bars must carry identification at all times. This new "papers please" policy in HRM struck a nerve on a number of levels and a heated argument ensued. The Bags lost and Liz's sister (bless her heart) brought down the appropriate government IDs.

The early acoustic set looked like this:
Loved this guy - a very attentive audience member. Later the place picked up and we also had a great second set. Our postering efforts paid off - even attracting international attention from a group staying at a nearby hostel. Had a fun time chatting with folks from UK, Poland, Australia and all over Canada after the set.
There's condos going up all around Gus's and you know what that means - noise complaints. There are new notes around the bar warning bands about getting too loud and making noise outside. Hopefully the bar isn't getting too much hassle. Gus's Pub and Grill has been there on Agricola for decades and long may she run. Maria, who owns the place, must be the sweetest woman in the world.  She was there at close, as always.

from the Archives

Here is a video from 2007 of "Worth Living" from a taping on Out of the Fog, back in the good old days when Krissy Holmes and Paddy Daly used to host it. From the DeeBee Archives :)
